Hamlet of Kinuso Is 7km Drive Southeast of Spruce Point Park

Municipal District of Big Lakes

[ Only a 5KM drive from Spruce Point Park ]

Hamlet of Kinuso has an approximate population of 250 people, and is the closest community service center to Spruce Point Park.  Established in 1914 as the Townsite of Swan River by the Dunvegan Railway, this Northern Alberta community became incorporated as the Village of Kinuso in 1949.  From 1949 through to 2009 the Village of Kinuso developed into today's size and the Regional Service Center for approximately 2500 people within a 20km radius of the Village.  Due to financial hardship,  in 2009 the Village of Kinuso went through dissolution and became a Hamlet within the Municipal District of Big Lakes.   Hamlet of Kinuso has a rare historical feature of one of the last standing grain elevators that was declared a Historical Building of the community and turned over to the local Kinusayo Museum to begin a restoration and preservation program to protect and preserve the community's grain elevator.

Kinuso is approximately six blocks wide, east to west; and approximately five blocks long, south to north.  Hamlet of Kinuso has many viable and tourist welcoming businesses open and servicing community residents and seasonal summer visitors and guests.  More Hamlet of Kinuso information can be accessed at Kinuso.ca
